Kaori Izumiya
Kaori Izumiya is a freelance 2D background artist who has been working on many Japanese animation projects for the last 13 years.
After an education in fine arts and oil painting at the Tokyo University of Art, she’s collaborated with Makoto Shinkai on most of his projects since “5 centimetres per second”, including on his critically acclaimed full feature animated movie “Your Name”, or the soon to be released worldwide "Weathering with you".
Along the years, she’s also worked at other Japanese studios, such as “Polygon Pictures” and “Steven Steven” as both a background artist and concept artist.

Kaori also maintains a successful art career, having exhibited her personal artworks solo or in collaboration with other artists, in Tokyo and New-Zealand.
